from Monty Python
Okay, this is LK guest blogging. During the life of 4Q, DK has occasionally suggested that I might want to, well, contribute. I never said yes, and never said no. I ignored it and it just sort of went away. Couldn't do that today: the suggestion became a command.
This morning we left Luverne, Minnesota final destination Madison, Wisconsin. An hour into what was going to be a 6.5-hour drive, DK turns to me and says: "I want to give you enough time to think about it, so I'm telling you now that I want you to do the blog tonight. There was nothing to write about yesterday, and I don't feel like doing it again."
I think: Um, gee thanks. I mean we're in the car together; it's not like I'm going to have a singular experience here. Well, unless you count the ladies loo at the rest stop.
Nonetheless I didn't say no because basically I couldn't risk it. You see, tomorrow I have a full 24 hours in Madison and I want to shop. We've been in the US - the Elysian Fields of shopping - for 17 days now, and I have not yet stepped foot in a single mall. It's worse than giving up smoking.
Tomorrow that will change. Believe me.
So here's my "contribution" to the Kennedy Blog/Travelogue.
Yesterday we drove across South Dakota: the landscape was grasslands and the speed limit was 75mph.
Today we drove across Minnesota: the landscape was row crops and the speed limit was 70mph.
Tonight we are are in Wisconsin: the landscape is mixed forests and the speed limit is 65mph.
Tomorrow: I am going shopping.
Oh, and the other thing DK told me (and the reason for today's graphic) is that today 4Q is one-year old.
Happy B-day and 4Q, Don.
